This entire issue on the Spratly islands is infuriating sometimes.

Have we not gone through enough grief caused by war to avert a possibly explosive situation? Can we not come to a compromise wherein all will benefit and no blood will be shed?

It’s not that simple.

None of the countries will submit or surrender. Each is only defending its claims because of the assumption that something worthwhile will come from it. As such, they are all willing to give up whatever it can, only coming short of an armed conflict. But we’re tap dancing on that edge. Open your eyes and pray we do not fall. 

I do hope we don’t have to resort to war over this thing. It’d be a shame.

We each have our reasons as to why we are claiming this territory. But are those reason good enough for us to throw the peace — regardless of how fragile it is — away? But then again, we gone to war for more pointless reasons, haven’t we?

Anyway, I hope we can resolve our issues diplomatically — which is to say, with as little blood shed, and as little relation broken, as possible. So on that note, I say: China, please stop asserting your power over the region that is clearly less than 200 Nautical miles from Philippine terrestrial domain [we aren’t claiming the entire thing, to clear things up], and my countrymen, please don’t try to increase the tension by flaunting power we clearly cannot keep up.

History is doomed to repeat itself — that is, until humanity learns the error of its repetitive ways. But that is something that usually only happens when it is far too late. And even then, the lesson will dissipate, and humanity will err again.

In the eyes of most, this will be looked upon as the ramblings of a mere child who doesn’t understand. Frankly, I do not mind. I’m merely voicing my opinion, in the hopes that someone will listen.
